FastAER Det: Fast Aerial Embedded Real-Time Detection

Automated detection of objects in aerial imagery is the basis for many applications, such as search and rescue operations, activity monitoring or mapping. However, cases it beneficial to employ a detector on-board platform order avoid latencies, make basic decisions within save transmission bandwidth. In this work, we address task designing an object detector, which meets certain requirements accuracy, inference speed power consumption. For this, first outline generally applicable design process methods then follow develop our own set models task. Specifically, optimize baseline model with regards accuracy while not increasing runtime. We propose fast head significantly improve runtime at little cost accuracy. Finally, discuss several aspects consider during deployment environment. Our resulting four that operate 15, 30, 60 90 FPS on embedded Jetson AGX device are published future benchmarking comparison by community.
